Consumer Price Index (CPI)

This indicator is a statistic which measures the changes in cost of
living in an urban area for a specified period (usually on a
monthly basis). CPI does not include
ALL items in Malaysia, It is
based on a fixed basket of goods and services such as food,
housing, electricity, and transportation. In Malaysia, we have the
main nine categories:

1. Food,
2. Beverages & Tobacco,
3. Transport & Communication,
4. Clothing & Footwear,
5. Medical Care & Health Expenses,
6. Furniture, Furnishings and Household Equipment & Operation,
7. Gross Rent, Fuel & Power,
8. Recreation, Entertainment, Education & Cultural Services,
9. Miscellaneous Goods & Services.
